Originally from Sarthe, Sylvia Karle-Marquet studied fine arts in Angers, graduating in 1969 and awarded the same year the André Malraux prize.
- She started exhibiting her work of an abstract if not surrealist style between 1971 and 1989.
- It was in 1993 that she gave birth to her Animalitudes collection, inspired by (her knowedge of) the great masters of the Renaissance and combining the art of mockery.
- In these wonderful paintings full of fantasy, she borrows the faces from animals to present humans in a satirical way.
